Congrats to Nerinx Writers
Four Nerinx students were selected as winners in an essay contest sponsored by The Pulitzer Center and Civitas. The students participated in sessions held at Nerinx that featured journalists who reported on Women, Children and Crisis in Nepal, Iraq and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The essay topic was "What are the similarities and differences between the issues of abuse and violence towards women and children in our local community and those in countries such as Nepal, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Iraq? Be sure to address what services and programs are available or lacking for women and children in each setting."

Congratulations to freshman Maria Sanchez, sophomores Martha Orlet and Sonya McCanna, and junior Claire Meyer. Each won $50 and an all expense paid two-day trip to Washington D.C. to visit the Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting. They will then become Pulitzer Ambassadors and help get more people and schools involved in the Pulitzer Center.
